India Releases 30 SL Fishermen


India repatriated 30 Lankan anglers, a day after courts in Sri Lanka requested the arrival of 66 Indian anglers captured by its naval force.

"Thirty Sri Lankan anglers discharged by the Tamil Nadu State powers were repatriated to Sri Lanka today (23 December) empowering get-together with their families in time to observe Christmas," External Affairs Ministry here said in proclamation.

The Sri Lankan anglers prepared to leave SLNS Ranagaja at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and land at the Kankasanturai harbor this nighttime.


"The arrival of anglers reflects the sharp craving of the two administrations to proceed with interview for speedy activity on the separate anglers in guardianship, with a perspective to tending to this issue on a helpful premise," the announcement said.

"It likewise shows the goodwill and comprehension which exists respectively in tending to issues identifying with anglers of the two nations, and an appearance of the warm and withstanding relationship," it said.
