Tax burden weighs heavily on citizens

The bulk of the country's tax burden continues to weigh heavily on ordinary citizens, especially the poor, a trend that needs to change, a taxation expert said. "The applicable ratios of taxes in Sri Lanka need to change in order to ensure a fair distribution of wealth," Tax Consultant Suresh Perera said.
