The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and the Jathika Hela Urumaya are focusing on fielding a third candidate, if fielding a common candidate at the Presidential election is hindered in anyway.
Reports say that both these parties have refused to attend the signing of the joint agreement for a common agenda as well as the media briefing scheduled to be held on Nov. 10.
The parties have also refused to support if UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is named as common candidate.
However, the JHU has reportedly decided to support if UNP Leadership Council chairman Karu Jayasuriya or Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera is named as common candidate.
