Health and Industries Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana has decided to call all provincial health service directors, hospital directors and other officials to Colombo today (27) to discuss and formulate a new plan with the aim of finding quick solutions to the current issues in the health sector. The purpose of this discussion is to find immediate solutions to the problems in the health sector, including the shortage of medicines, doctors and other health workers leaving the country.
The discussion held in the past focused on staff problems including doctors and nurses in major hospitals as well as regional hospitals, recruitment of technical personnel for the maintenance of buildings in hospitals and health institutions, solving problems by managing money in the face of the current economic crisis, completing the technical problems of the new data system quickly and putting it into service.
Discussions were also held on the methods to be taken to control the spread of dengue mosquitoes, measures to identify and control the mosquito epidemic.
Problems faced by the health sector will be looked into during the discussion which will be held today under the patronage of new Health Minister.
Short-term and long-term solutions to the existing problems in the health sector will be taken up at this meeting today.
