SJB will be nowhere by next April – UNP Chairman

United National Party Chairman, MP Vajira Abeywardena said that by the next Sinhala New Year, the main political party of the Opposition, the Samagi Janabalavegaya (SJB) will not exist.

He made this comment during a meeting with electorate organizers held at Sirikotha Party Headquarters yesterday (12).
   He said that the Opposition believes that they can bring in No Confidence Motions and develop the country. It is completely false. When you consider countries such as Singapore in Asia, they have not brought in any no-confidence motions. The country is moving forward. The people need not fear anything now. Our country is being ruled now by a leader that is accepted by the world. I declared once that there is no state leader who can talk above him, in the world. The President will go abroad this week. He is due to address the United Nations Organization.

That is why certain groups are engaged in acting out dramas. Ranil Wickremesinghe is not scared of these dramas. His house was set on fire. However, he did not even turn to glance at his house. Today we have such a leader.

Today the Opposition is going on a wrong journey. President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that all of us should join together. If our country needs a future we have to get together and set up a national policy.

As Sri Lankan people, we have to be very thoughtful in working. What we want is to rebuild the country that has collapsed. All of us should commit ourselves towards it. If the nation divides, we will get destroyed. If we become united, we will win. President Ranil Wickremesinghe always worked towards the benefit of the people. He brought in and adopted several acts in parliament recently, on behalf of protecting you. Of these, setting up a budget office at parliament is of significance.

Today, our country needs change. During the past few days what came out of society is also the fact that our country needs change. That change is being brought about by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, as of now. That change should be brought about within the politics of this country as well.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that this country cannot be taken forward further with ancient political methods. What is this new journey that is being talked about? The United National Party always attempted to implement this method.

However, the people of our country did not approve of that method. Nevertheless, the opposition is still implementing the ancient political method. That method is temporary. Due to what the opposition is doing, what will happen is that once again our country will have to face difficulties.
